Greetings to the Shambhala Community,
The Mountain Region centers of Shambhala are pleased to announce that they will sponsor Shambhala Guide Training, Feb 6,7,8 2009 and March 27,28,29, 2009. The first weekend will be in Fort Collins and the 2nd weekend is at Shambhala Mountain Center.
Shambhala Guides are authorized to give initial and follow-up meditation instruction. The training program reviews the Shambhala Buddhist view and path, along with shamatha and vipashyana meditation. Participants are trained in listening, giving instruction, and leading discussions; skills are practiced in small groups with a senior Meditation Instructor.
One may apply for the program prior to the completion of the first three prerequisites, but those must be completed before December 31, 2008. Additionally, accepted students must complete required readings, and practice 30 hours per month (weekthun hours not included) in the three months prior to March 26th.
Please consider this wonderful training, which also qualifies one to continue toward certification as a Meditation Instructor and/or Assistant Director. To begin the process, I suggest a discussion with your Meditation Instructor.
The deadline for submission of the completed application, recommendations, and deposit is December 31, 2008.
You may email your application form to Melissa Powell at thelibrarygirl@comcast.net. Make application payment to FCSMC, PO Box 1336, Fort Collins, CO 80522.
