2014 Shambhala Day Campaign Letter from our Director

In these last few days before the beginning of the new year I implore you to take a look at what Shambhala as a Global Community has meant to you.  How have you helped create and participated in enlightened society in the past year?  I know that my contemplation has helped me to see the importance of the global Shambhala community.  I know I wouldn’t be in the position of director without direct support of the Sakyong or all of the “behind the scenes” people who help to guide us.  Just one small example is the sweet, and yet, powerful format of public sitting and community gathering.  This offering is provided by every Shambhala center and group.

The Shambhala Day campaign is when each individual in Shambhala has the opportunity to care for the whole. The money we collect allows the Sakyong and our central services to serve our centers and groups better. We in turn can better serve our members and public. Then each of us can serve our families and communities better.  The whole point is to develop the potency to have an impact on others in the world.

Because so much has been offered and is continuing to be offered to us, I ask that you make an equal if not greater monetary offering to our mandala. I’m asking you to give what you think will help support the current Shambhala community.  Give so that future generations have a strong foundation in which they can transmit enlightened society to their children.  Please help support the forty year plus tradition of Shambhala culture so that it can flourish for a long time to come.  Pledge cards will be available at the Center on Shambhala Day for your personal gift to Shambhala International.

I would also like to thank you for what you currently do for our community.  I appreciate and recognize your current and ongoing support.  I look forward to celebrating with you on Shambhala Day and throughout the new year!

In the Vision of the Great Eastern Sun,

Greth Patterson, Executive Director, Fort Collins Shambhala Meditation Center
