Meditation practice cannot protect us from change in our lives—especially the changes that challenge our most deeply held assumptions about ourselves and our world. In our hearts, we know that our lives will certainly change in unexpected ways that we cannot prepare for, no matter how much we plan (or meditate!)

What meditation can do is help us discover the natural flexibility of mind that allows us to keep our hearts open and our intelligence unbiased as we meet our life, moment by moment. This is equilibrium that is not based on fear or fixation, the path of the bravery.

Acharya Dan Hessey has been a student of Shambhala Buddhism since 1973.
He is donating his honorarium to our Capital Campaign.  All proceeds will go to our Relocation Fundraising!

He has lived at Shambhala dharma centers for over 20 years. He served as director of Shambhala Mountain Center for 6 years, and has been a senior teacher, Shastri, and Acharya. He has translated and written a commentary of the I Ching as a map of social development. He is currently the resident Acharya at Shambhala Mountain Center.

* Pay what you can afford

In order to make our programs accessible to everyone, we have a “pay what you can afford” policy.  If the program price is an obstacle for you, please decide what works for you and offer whatever you can. You may write in that amount in the "Notes" when you register online & pay during registration on the day of the event.

For those who can offer more than the program price, we have a “patron price”. Your generosity in offering the patron price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price.
